School of Dance Policies
DRESS CODE: Girls may wear any color/style leotard and tights. Form-fitting dance pants and sweaters can be layered for the colder months. Boys may wear form-fitting t-shirts and sweatpants. Please make sure hair is pulled up and out of the face. No jewelry other than small earrings please. Shoes are as follows: Tap - Beginners - black patent tap shoes with ties Tap - Intermediate thru advanced - black leather mary janes Jazz - black leather split sole lace up jazz shoes Ballet - pink ballet slippers Lyrical/modern - "Dance paws" *Pointe shoes are on an individual basis* ATTENDANCE: Please make an effort to attend class on a weekly basis. If you must miss class for illness, vacation, etc., please notify the studio in advance when possible. Make-up classes will be scheduled for any missed classes. Regular attendance is necessary for your child to reap the benefits of his/her dance education! **Any student that misses more than 1 class in the 8 weeks prior to recital may not be permitted to perform in the recital. This does not apply to extreme circumstances such a family emergencies, etc. This is to ensure fairness for all of the students as they work hard to prepare for the year end recital. INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event of severe weather, a voice message will be left on the studio answering machine AT LEAST 2 hours prior to the start of classes. Any classes that are postponed due to weather will be made up at a later date. There will also be an announcement posted on Facebook. And when possible, an email or text messages will be sent out. TUITION: Tuition is paid on a monthly basis by the first of every month. Any tuition not paid by the 10th of the month will incur a $5.00 late fee. Checks can be made out to Encore School of Dance. Any checks returned NSF are subject to a $30.00 processing fee. Tuition and Missed Classes: When a class is missed, students may take a similar class to make it up. Accounts will not be credited for missed classes. The exception to this is the Moms and Tots class, as there is only one class offered per week. OR arrangements for make up classes can be made by speaking with your instructor. CLASSROOM RULES: 1. No food or drink in dance room. Students are welcome to bring snacks/drinks in appropriate containers and left in the waiting room. Students are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. 2. Please be courteous and respectful to your instructor and fellow students. Any student engaging in behavior the instructor considers disruptive or unsafe may be asked to sit and observe. Safety is our priority! 3. No gum chewing 4. Cell phones should be turned off and left in waiting room. All of our hard work will culminate in a year end dance recital. (Time and date TBA) While no performance is ever mandatory, dance is a PERFORMING ART and students learn a great deal of skill, poise, and confidence from performing! We will also be doing several other community performances throughout the year! *REFERRAL PROGRAM* Any student who refers a new student will receive 1 free class after that new student has completed registration and enrolled in classes.
